Signed lower right, ‘Greene’ for Gretchen Greene (American, born 1943), a listed woman artist, and painted circa 2005; additionally inscribed, verso, with artist name. A bold Post-Impressionist style portrait of a cat gazing out at the viewer with amber eyes and contrasted against swirls of variegated blue, purple, and yellow. California Bay Area artist Gretchen Greene has exhibited with success in Oakland and has been an active theater painter since the 1960s.
